Updates from 604 6th Street
- Totalled our 2003 Dodge Ram Truck. Hit black ice on teh way to the airport, and flipped it into the ditch going 75 mph! We are both fine. . .only a small cut on Shelby's pinky.
- We may have walked away with more money than our loan, so that is okay with us!
- We didnt' start looking for a truck right away in hopes that maybe the right one would find us. . .we were just driving Shelby's car, but the window got stuck in the down position on one of Iowa's coldest days this year. Mike went to start his car (which has been sitting for nearly 2 months) and it had a flat tire. So, Mike had to drive Shelby's car 3 days in a row to Davenport and back in the frigid weather with the window down because the body shop had to buy a new part to fix the window! We took the car in on Monday and they told us it would be at least 3 days until fixed. It has been wierd being stranded with no car in Durant for the past 3 days while the car has been at the body shop. We are lucky to live so close to everything that we need.
- Herbie is HUGE! And we think he is still growing if that is possible. Not sure his weight cause we don't have a scale.
- Shelby taught Herbie how to shake. He can now sit, lay down, shake, roll over, and stay for almost a minute now. We are so proud. He loves to cuddle and think he is a lap dog even though he takes up over half of the couch!!! His new favorite toy is the tennis ball. He has it with him all day and night. He never lets it out of his sight and constantly wants to play fetch. It becomes quite annoying after a while. He has learned to throw the ball either up in the air playing with himself or at you when you are not playing fetch with him and he wants you to. It will fly at you and usually land in your lap!
- A new semester started Tuesday in Durant. We are now on the downhill slope towards the end of the school year.
- Mike has been blessed with a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd hour prep/study hall. No problem getting his correcting done now, right?
- Shelby's preschool class is growing to add two more children this semester making the total kids at 18. She is so excited for the rest of the year.
- Hope the beginning of the year is going well for you all. LOVE YOU> MIKE, SHELBY, AND HERBIE HOUGEN
